The Broad

“You need to get out of here, you are bigger than this place”-Bridget Carol Shuffield

I was born in Santa Barbara, California, but spent a lot of my years in Arkansas. I always felt like an outsider there, some of my dearest friends that I met were also stranded in Arkansas from other parts of the country. I made a promise to myself to get out of ‘the south’. I kept that promise and I have never looked back. I landed in Italy, in the region of Tuscany. A place where I feel more at home than I ever did any other place that I have ever lived.

I’m here to write about my “fairytale ending”… the good, the bad, the ugly, and my overall experience…

Although Italy is a dream come true, like all places, it has its difficulties and frustrations. Writing has been a way for me to share my experience with those out there who daydream about starting over somewhere new, and a way to remind myself about why I voyaged out on this adventure. Also to not come unhinged when I find myself in a bureaucratic nightmare, which seems to be often. A way perhaps to document and let the world know that happily ever after is only in the storybooks, because mine can be down right comical at times.
